RISD Museum

RISD Museum’s Chace Center. Courtesy of the Museum of Art RhodThe Rhode Island School of Design is one of the most prestigious art schools in the country. It is located in Providence on the water.  The RISD Museum is a perfect place to visit after taking your boat for a day trip.

Dock at the Fox Point Marina, which is just a 15-minute walk from the museum. It is located at 525 South Water Street.

After the quick walk, enter the museum and be prepared to be amazed by the intense collection of art.   The museum has over 100,000 objects ranging from ancient art all the way through to modern pieces by contemporary artists.  There are six floors, with 15 galleries and an auditorium.

Be sure to make ample time to get through all the exhibits, including the special exhibits.  You won’t want to miss a thing.

While no food or drink is allowed in any of the galleries, you can grab a bite to eat in the lobby of the building before entering the museum. The gift shop is also located nearby.

The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays. At the time of publishing admission is $12.00 for adults, $3.00 for children between five and 18.
